Description
Hyphessobrycon columbianus was only formally described in 2002 and was and still is, often confused with Hyphessobrycon ecuadorensis.
Hyphessobrycon columbianus has an intense turquoise blue body with predominantly scarlet red fins. The anal fin is usually outlined with a black stripe and the caudal fins typically have white-ish tips.
This tetra can actually reach sizes of 2.6 inches and will live 3 to 5 years. It is an easy fish to care for and feed. They are known jumpers and a tightly fitted top/cover is recommended.
