One of our favorite electric fish, The Black Ghost Knifefish is a peaceful and shy South American fish that loves to hang out in caves or under driftwood and plants.
Like most knifefish, they can become quite aggressive if kept with other electric fish/knifefish and thus are best kept as the sole knifefish without any morymids or any other electric fish in an aquarium. This fish can grow over 18″ if given enough space and proper care, and has been known to live upwards of 15 years so a suitable aquarium of 75-90 gallons or more is preferred, but can be housed in a smaller aquarium with proper water conditions while growing it out. Can be kept with most peaceful fish, but it does have the ability to eat anything that fits in its mouth.
