Cardinal Tetra – Paracheirodon axelrodi

Description

The Cardinal Tetra is one of the most beautiful and most recognizable shoaling fish in the aquarium hobby.
Native to the Orinoco River which runs through Columbia & Venezuela & The Rio Negro in Brazil. They are a peaceful community fish that does best in groups of 5 or more and look best in groups of 15 or more.
Groups will simply mesmerize you with synchronized movements of vibrant shimmer and color.
Unlike the Neon Tetra which it is often confused with, the Cardinal Tetra’s red base extends through the entire body.

Typically growing up to 2 inches in the wild, captive bred Cardinals like our own Jumbos, can tend to be a littler larger and a little more vibrant too!
They will stay mid to top range in their swimming habits and are omnivores and will eat flakes, pellets and frozen food as well as veggies too!
They prefer temps of 72-84F and are a fairly easy fish to keep with proper care.
